Jax Beach Deck The Chairs announces awards

Winning entries have been announced for the 2021 Jacksonville Beach Deck The Chairs.

The Deck The Chairs Awards Committee handled 800 chair ballots turned in by visitors over the span of three weeks. The final winners were tabulated from 2,000 individual chair votes.

This year was the largest holiday display for the event with more than 45 decorated lifeguard chairs and the premier of SeaSongs, an imaginative, multi-chair, interactive musical light installation.

For the past nine years, small business partners and nonprofits have spent July through November working on their elaborate custom-decorated chairs for exhibit in the Jax Beach Seawalk Pavilion park. The chairs are often personal narratives themed in holiday lights — each chair carefully developed to communicate a unique idea fitted into the larger community display.

The nationally recognized holiday display is attracting record crowds with organizers pointing to more and more families appreciating the free, safe, fun and educational experience. Volunteers manage the display for six weeks and support three weekends of afternoon children’s holiday programming.

This year’s winners are:

First Place “Blue Ribbon Chair” — Fur Sisters Furever Urs Rescue, a consistent favorite for four years straight.

“We love being a part of this amazing event that brings so much awareness to our cause,” said Kelly Krehbiel, Fur Sisters founder. “This is the fourth year we have participated, and every year it gets bigger and better. We are honored to be chosen as the fan favorite this year among so many amazing chair displays.”
