Jax Spine & Pain Centers, in collaboration with UF Health Jacksonville, has broken ground on a state-of-the-art multispecialty surgery center and medical office building. The 19,000-square-foot Centurion Surgery Center will be housed in a new three-story, 54,000-square-foot medical facility with 12 outpatient operating suites and procedure rooms.

Jacksonville is Florida’s fastest-growing city according to the May 2019 U.S. Census Report, and this facility is designed with an increasing patient population in mind.

The center will facilitate treatment of back problems, joint pain and osteoarthritis, and spinal disorders, which are among the top 10 reasons people visit their doctor for treatment.

This $25 million project will be the largest freestanding multispecialty surgery center on the First Coast and will offer patients neurosurgical, interventional pain management, orthopaedic, gastrointestinal, oral, and maxillofacial, surgical and gynecological care.

The facility will operate five days a week, and the aim is to drive down the cost of health care by safely performing appropriately complex surgeries in an outpatient setting. This is the first of several freestanding surgery centers to open in Northeast Florida and South Georgia with an emphasis on spinal care.

The Centurion Surgery Center is slated to open in spring 2022 and will provide patients with efficient access to help drive down health care costs, decrease the wait time for scheduling procedures and allow participating physicians throughout the First Coast the use of this state-of-the-art facility.
