Judge Lauren P. Blocker of the 7th Circuit took her oath of office Jan. 21 in an investiture ceremony at TPC Sawgrass.

“I promise as a judge to remember the support of everyone that got me to this place, to treat everyone with respect, to always be impartial, and to be prepared for every proceeding,” she said.

The Honorable Terence R. Perkins presided over the ceremony. Sheriff Robert Hardwick opened the proceedings, and Judge Howard M. Maltz administered the oath of office.

Blocker’s husband, Jeremiah Blocker, performed the enrobing and escort to the bench, and Judge Charles J. Tinlin officially welcomed her to the bench.

A highlight of the ceremony was her two children reciting the pledge of allegiance with the help of Hardwick.
