K9s United will host its seventh annual 9k for K9s on April 29 at World Golf Hall of Fame, 1 World Golf Place, in St. Augustine to support and honor canine law enforcement officers who protect and serve our communities. The family-friendly event will include a one-mile fun run, classic 5K, challenging 9K and virtual “no excuse” race options.

The race will begin at 8 a.m.

The event will honor the bravery and perseverance of Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office K-9 Huk, who will attend the race to inspire participants as he continues to recover after being shot last year in pursuit of an armed suspect. Huk’s life was saved after being airlifted to an emergency vet thanks to K9s United’s efforts to pass legislation which allows working dogs to be transported via emergency vehicles, such as ambulances and helicopters.

Both seasoned and beginner athletes are invited to sign-up now to participate in the 9K for K9s. Each registrant will receive a race T-shirt or dog bandana (while supplies last), along with a finisher medal featuring a signature design to honor K-9 Huk for his service. The deadline to guarantee participants will receive an official race T-shirt is Sunday, April 16. Both the 5K and 9K will be chip timed with awards for the top runners in each category. All races are open to runners and walkers of all levels.

Following the race, participants and supporters can enjoy children’s activities, a photo booth with K9 heroes, a K9 demonstration, local vendors and more. For the safety of participating law enforcement K-9s, only service dogs are permitted to attend.
