The Ladies Amateur Golf Association North Florida has announced its formation by Melissa Gotfredson and Carolyn Creekmore.

The organization has been established for competitive women golfers with a GHIN index of 10.4 or lower who reside in the Jacksonville, Gainesville, Tallahassee and Orlando communities and across the Northern Florida region.

“LAGANF was created after the model Carolyn and I built in the Dallas/Ft.Worth Metroplex 31 years ago,” said Gotfredson. “It is designed to advance fair, competitive golf, foster camaraderie and friendships and spotlight the skills and talent of women golfers in Northern Florida.”

“We are committed to bringing players together for weekly competition in order to experience the true interest, value and spirit of the game of golf,” she added. “It is where members can improve their golf skills, mental management of the game and become more knowledgeable of the rules of golf.”

Members will compete in playdays to be held at premier golf clubs and courses in the area.

The co-founders have the support and the cooperation of the Northern Florida section of the PGA as well as the Jacksonville Area Golf Association and with the assistance of each participating club’s PGA professional.

“We are thrilled that our inaugural playday will be held on Jan. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at TPC Sawgrass at the renowned Dye Valley Course,” said Creekmore. “It is a great test of golf for any level of player and is always in superb condition. Our membership is anxious to play one of the area’s iconic courses as LAGANF launches its first season.”

Membership is open to any amateur woman golfer with the stipulated handicap index in the Northern Florida region.

Members receive invitations to playdays as well as yearly subsidized golf clinics from top instructors, among other benefits.
