Landrum girls and boys varsity soccer teams take championship

Girls finish season undefeated; boys break a tied game

The Landrum Middle School girls’ varsity soccer team took home the St. Johns County Championship Sunday, Jan. 8 at Gamble Rogers Middle School in St. Augustine.

The team, coached by Tammi Noon and Sam Wooten, went undefeated for the first time ever this season. Entering the county playoffs as the first seed, the Lady Lions won four straight playoff games to get to the finals. The girls defeated Liberty Pines Academy 3-0 to end their season with a 15-0 record.

That same day, the Landrum Middle School boys’ varsity soccer team won their St. Johns Soccer Championship against the Fruit Cove Flyers in a 2-1 game. Following a first goal by Lucus Bouquot, the boys broke a tie in the final minutes of the game when Josh Cills scored the winning goal with an assist from Cade Greenwald.
