Get ready for empire waists and intricate lace as Limelight Theatre presents “Sense & Sensibility”!
When their father dies unexpectedly, the future seems bleak for the Dashwood sisters of Norland Park. Their half-brother inherits the estate, leaving them impoverished. Spineless brother John and his haughty, stingy wife Fanny establish themselves immediately after the funeral, treating Mrs. Dashwood and her three daughters as unwelcome guests. A silver lining emerges when Fanny’s kind, mild-mannered brother, Edward Ferrars, comes for a visit and develops a friendship with the sensible, eldest sister. Is it merely esteem and admiration for Elinor, or something more?
Jane Austen’s timeless tale will come to life April 4-19 on the Inez McDonald Mainstage. Limelight is offering free bookmarks and a chance to win free tickets to all who come in costume or simply wear gloves. Reaching out to the “Janeite” community is important to the creative team, and Limelight wants to engage all who love Austen and her writing.
The show is directed by Hazel Robinson.
