Local pet resort provides assistance to pet owners amid COVID-19 outbreak

Posted

To provide a healthy and safe environment for pets and their owners in Ponte Vedra, Sawgrass Pet Resort is staying open, taking extra precautions and assisting those struggling to care for their pet due to the temporary workplace closures.

The pet resort will accept donations of both, dry and wet, dog and cat food. The food will be distributed to local residents that are unable to purchase food due to loss of income from the business closures.

The location is also thoroughly sterilized daily, according to a statement released by the resort, that also provided information for pet owners in regards to the COVID-19 outbreak.

“According to the CDC and World Health Organization, there is no reason to believe that pets can contract or transmit COVID-19,” it said.  “They do recommend that, ‘If you are sick with COVID-19, avoid contact with your pet including petting, snuggling, being kissed or licked and sharing food. If you must care for your pet or be around animals while you are sick, wash your hands before & after you interact with pets and wear a facemask.’”
