Local Primrose Schools hold children’s book drives

Posted

Students at Primrose Schools in Nocatee, Julington Creek and St. Johns held book drives in February to celebrate and share the joy of reading and ultimately collected 2,000 books.

Books for children up to 5 years of age were donated to the North Florida Early Learning Coalition (ELC). The ELC serves over 6,000 children in St. Johns County, along with five other counties in North Florida. Volunteers are trained as Reading Pals or for the Literacy Outreach program. Donations are important to the organization’s success. For more information on the ELC, visit www.elcnorthflorida.org.

St. Johns CARES, a local nonprofit volunteer organization, will distribute books for children over 5 years of age to organizations working with disadvantaged youth and homeless children in the St. Johns County Public School ASSIST program.
