Matanzas 5000 raises $20,100 for area cross country track programs

The Ancient City Roadrunners Matanzas 5000 event has raised $20,100 for St. Johns County high school and middle school cross country and track programs. Checks were presented in a ceremony on April 30 at Ponte Vedra High School.

The Ponte Vedra High School Cross Country and Track Team was presented a check for $2,400, which included a donation of $2,100 plus $300 for the Most Participants Award. 

The 2019 Matanzas 5000 was held in January with the help of title sponsor, First Coast Rehabilitation.

Men: Andrew Colley and Matt McClintock (tie), 14:26

Women: Joanna Thompson, 17:05

Prize Money Awarded: $3,600

$20,100 donated to the following cross-country track programs

High Schools ($2,100 each): Bartram Trail, Creekside, Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, Nease, Menendez, Ponte Vedra, St. Augustine, St. Joseph Academy

Middle Schools ($500 each): Landrum, Fruit Cove, Gamble Rogers, Pacetti Bay, Sebastian, Valley Ridge Academy

School with Most Participants ($300): Ponte Vedra
