The search for a missing Ponte Vedra man ended Tuesday when authorities found his body in Guana State Park.
On Monday, Nov. 21, the Florida Wildlife Commission notified the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office that the man, Mark Meihofer, was reported missing and that his vehicle was located in the park after normal hours.
Authorities searched overnight and a full-scale search was launched Tuesday morning. Eventually, the body of the deceased man was discovered.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, foul play is not suspected. The final cause of death is pending an autopsy to be conducted by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office issued a statement thanking its agency partners and personnel for their work to find Meihofer.
A joint statement from the Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Wildlife Commission offered condolences to Meihofer’s family and asked that the public respect their privacy at this time.
