Nemours Children’s Health, one of the nation’s largest multistate pediatric health systems, has announced the promotion of Aaron Carpenter to North Florida president. Carpenter most recently served as senior vice president, chief nursing and patient operations officer, Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware Valley.
“Aaron has proven himself an exceptional leader in nearly a decade at Nemours Children’s Health, and we look forward to the extensive experience he will bring to our North Florida team,” said Mark Mumford, enterprise chief operating officer for Nemours. “His clinical expertise and passion for excellence will help ensure we continue to meet the needs of our North Florida communities, and that our patients receive the highest quality care.”
Carpenter, who joined Nemours Children’s Health in 2016, will replace previous North Florida Region President Michael Erhard, who retired in 2024, to lead the Jacksonville and Pensacola areas.
Prior to entering clinical and operations leadership roles, Carpenter served as a pediatric nurse practitioner in primary care and emergency medicine for more than 20 years. In previous leadership roles, he created leadership infrastructure and a leadership development program for advanced practice providers, led efforts to advance scholarly contributions in nursing and patient care services and created the only pediatric primary care nurse practitioner fellowship in the country, which launched in 2017.
He earned his bachelor's degree from Sacred Heart University, a master's degree from Yale University, a master’s degree from Trinity Anglican Seminary and a doctor of nursing practice degree from Robert Morris University. He is board certified in pediatrics through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.
“For two decades, I have spent time alongside children and their families facing some of the most difficult obstacles of their lives,” said Carpenter. “During these moments, I have seen firsthand the efforts of our teams at Nemours Children’s Health to provide best-in-class care that goes well beyond medicine. I look forward to partnering with the Nemours team in North Florida to advance this vision.”
