“White Christmas” to be staged at Ponte Vedra High School

Ponte Vedra High School drama students will present “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas” at 7 p.m. Dec. 8, 9, 10 and 11; and 2 p.m. Dec. 10 and 11. The musical is based on the popular 1954 Paramount Pictures Film that starred Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at pvhsdab.com.

The show is being directed by Jason Nettle and choreographed by Maureen Straub Craig.

 

Holiday book sale at the library

The Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library will have a special holiday book sale Dec. 5-23 in the library foyer. Proceeds go directly toward providing funding for special programming and new materials for the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

The sale will be held during regular operating hours: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

A wide variety of items at bargain prices will be available for purchase, including books for all ages, movies, music and puzzles. Don't miss the special Gift Table of new and "gently used" treasures to peruse, too.

Only cash and checks will be accepted as payment at this sale.

Pulte collecting donations for City Rescue Mission

The Northeast Florida Division of PulteGroup is collecting donations in support of City Rescue Mission’s Shoeboxes of Love project. Through Dec. 15, Pulte is collecting shoeboxes filled with personal care and toiletry items at 10 Pulte Homes and Del Webb sales offices in Northeast Florida.

Participating sites in St. Johns County are: Del Webb Nocatee, 73 Glenhurst Ave., Ponte Vedra; Trails at Grand Oaks, 22 Myrtle Oak Court, St Augustine; Summer Bay at Grand Oaks, 22 Myrtle Oak Court, St. Augustine; and Preserve at Bannon Lakes, 205 Cedar Preserve Lane, St Augustine.

Donors are asked to wrap the box with a blanket and indicate on each box whether it is for a man, a woman or a child (boy or girl). Donations are also being accepted at City Rescue Mission, 426 S. McDuff Ave., Jacksonville.

Palm Valley Market every Tuesday

The Palm Valley Market is held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday inside the Palm Valley Community Center, 148 Canal Road. The market offers fresh produce, baked goods, local honey, tea, seasonal treats, soap, jewelry, plants and more.

Ponte Vedra Democratic Club plans party

The Ponte Vedra Democratic Club will host its annual holiday party at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Christ Episcopal Church's Westbury Hall; 400 San Juan Drive in Ponte Vedra Beach. Catering by Bono's Pit BBQ. Tickets are $20.22 per person and available at bit.ly/3MsthQP.

Essential tremor meeting is Dec. 6

A “meet, greet and educate” gathering will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, for anyone interested in essential tremor.

Essential tremor is a shaking of the head or limbs while performing a task, such as walking, reaching, eating, etc.). It's not Parkinson's disease, in which shaking occurs while limbs are at rest.

A Nocatee "ET" support group has been started and is meeting every other month. The Dec. 6 meeting will feature Lew Whiting, MSW, LCSW, speaking about clinical trials for ET. If you suspect you have ET, you and/or your loved ones are welcome to attend.

Holiday open house at the Waterworks building

The St. Johns County Main Public Library, the St. Johns Cultural Council and A Classic Theatre invite the public to a Holiday Open House at The Waterworks, 184 San Marco Ave., St. Augustine.

There will be light refreshments, and shoppers will enjoy the festive atmosphere of this historic building from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 15.

There will be a short ceremony honoring this year's award-winning recipients of the St. Johns Cultural Council's State of the Arts grants followed by a program of holiday musical entertainment.
