Cynthia Ware appointed to local board
The St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners unanimously voted to appoint Cynthia Ware to the Ponte Vedra Zoning and Adjustment Board on Tuesday, March 7. Her term expires March 7, 2027. The appointment was made to fill a vacancy created with the expired term of John Lynch. Lynch had been appointed in December 2018.
The board serves as the local land planning agency for the Ponte Vedra Zoning District. It is an advisory board to the Board of County Commissioners.
Literary event planned
The Friends of the Library, Ponte Vedra Beach's Speaker Series continues at 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at Crosswater Hall in Nocatee, 245 Nocatee Center Way. Seven local authors will participate in a symposium where they will present their books and talk about their lives as an author.
The seven authors are Vic DiGenti, Sohrab Homi Fracis, Ed Mickolaus, Nancy Quatrano, Elisabeth Randall, Kate Stollenwerck and Eleanor Tremayne.

Employers encouraged to host summer interns
CareerSource Northeast Florida is recruiting regional employers to serve as job sites for 16-to-19-year-olds as part of its CHOICES Youth Summer Internship Program.
The CHOICES internship program will take place this summer from June 5 to July 14, and companies can request a single intern or as many as the company needs. This career exploration program for students is available to any business located in St. Johns, Duval, Baker, Clay, Nassau or Putnam counties.
CareerSource NEFL will pay a stipend to the intern and will pay for the student’s transportation, if needed. In addition, CareerSource NEFL will match the interns to worksites throughout Northeast Florida and manage the students and their schedules.

Mutt Market set for April 8
The Jacksonville Humane Society invites pet owners and pet lovers to sip, shop and play at the organization’s third annual Mutt Market. There will be a local vendor market, food trucks, a $10 pet supply fill-a-bag, doggie splash pads, a silent auction, raffle and more. Adoptions will be free all day.
Attendees are welcome to bring their dogs to the event, though all animals must remain on their leashes while on site.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 8 at 8464 Beach Blvd. To register for tickets or to learn more, go to jaxhumane.org/muttmarket.
There is no cost to attend, but donations to support homeless dogs and cats in the community are appreciated. Those who cannot attend in person can still bid on items in the online Mutt Market auction, which is already open to everyone.
