Glenn Newton of Ponte Vedra has been named the new director of development at the Betty Griffin Center.

“We’re excited to have Glenn join our team and the contributions he will make within our organization,” said Betty Griffin Center CEO Joyce Mahr. “Glenn has 25 years of experience working with churches and nonprofit religious organizations, with expertise in public speaking, mentoring, event planning, counseling, grant writing and fundraising, which will all be tremendous assets for us in this position.”

Newton was most recently an independent marketing and development consultant, where he helped develop and launch a new church, provided strategic planning for both churches and businesses, worked on capital campaign planning, education development, marketing strategies, outreach strategies and fundraising – which included serving as a marketing consultant for Wild Adventures in Valdosta, Georgia.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work for the Betty Griffin Center and be part of our mission to bring hope and healing to the hurting in our community,” Newton said.

Prior to launching his own firm, Newton was a minister with the Mandarin Church of Christ in Jacksonville, Pleasant View Church of Christ, Pleasanton, California, and a preaching minister at Lakeview Church of Christ in Tacoma, Washington.

Newton began his development career at Heritage Christian University in Florence, Alabama, where he was responsible for university advancement and development, planned giving, capital campaign planning, letter writing, alumni relations, maintaining and developing healthy relationships with supporting churches and donors, and event planning for the university from 2004 to 2007.

He received his Bachelor of Arts in Theology and a Master of Ministry from Heritage Christian University.
