Whether it was a fun night out at the school or a good book to cozy up to this summer, students at Ocean Palms Elementary School had the opportunity to have a little fun, while raising money for their school this spring.

The virtual spring auction, which took place April 21-24 and offered products and services from local venders, as well as events with teachers and staff, such as ice cream socials, art classes and Lego fun.

Thanks to generous local companies and some healthy bidding among families, the event raised just over $13,000.

Additionally, the school hosted the Scholastic Book Fair on campus for students and teachers. Books were available for everyone from the pre-kindergarten classes through fifth grade.

Total sales from the fair exceeded $16,000, a percentage of which goes to the school and will be used to purchase leveled readers, Sunshine State Young Readers Award books for classrooms next year, and to provide books for the media center and classroom libraries.
