Area writers can share their work at the annual Open Mic meeting of the Ponte Vedra Writers at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.
Writing is a personal artform, and often done in seclusion, but the Open Mic forum allows writers to read excerpts of present or past work before a respectful audience of their peers. The meeting is open to writers of all genres, whether poetry, fiction or nonfiction. Depending on the number of participants, each person will have between eight and 12 minutes to read to the group.
Advance notice is required if you wish to participate to be sure there’s time for everyone to read. Email group leader Vic DiGenti at vicdig@mac.com if you wish to participate.
Refreshments will be served, and the meeting will include a book exchange. Those attending may bring one or two like-new books to share with others. Any books not taken will be donated to Seymour’s, the library’s bookstore.
The Ponte Vedra Writers group is affiliated with the Florida Writers Association, a statewide, non-profit organization dedicated to the support of both aspiring and published writers in any genre. The Dec. 14 meeting is free and open to members and nonmembers alike.
