Palms residents celebrate Oktoberfest

The Palms at Ponte Vedra held an Oktoberfest event Friday afternoon, Oct. 6, in both its assisted living and memory care areas. Accordionist and singer Stevie Fingers provided lively polka tunes for both groups.

The event also recognized The Palms’ eighth anniversary this year, and special plaques were presented to the facility’s “Legends,” those who have been with The Palms the longest. Several residents in both assisted living and memory care were recognized. Also, four staff members who have been with The Palms since the beginning were recognized.

In the dining room, assisted living residents enjoyed jumbo pretzels with mustard, wiener schnitzel, German potato salad, German chocolate cake, apple cranberry strudel and, of course, beer.

The festivities included a blessing with Pastor Loy, a special message from Margaret Mosher and the honoring of The Palms Legends with Executive Director Barbara Matteson.
