Peter Cottontail Express returns to St. Marys April 20

Children of all ages can enjoy the antics of Peter Cottontail and other holiday characters on a special Easter season train excursion April 20 in St. Marys, Georgia.

At 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., St. Marys Express will take passengers on a journey through woodlands and marshlands with entertainment all along the way.

At the Midway stage, actors from St. Marys Little Theatre will bring a fun Easter Bunny story to life with characters including Snoopy and Peter Cottontail himself. Peter’s will friends mingle with passengers for memorable photo opportunities on the return trip. Then back at the station, Peter Cottontail and Snoopy will host a special Easter Egg hunt for all the boys and girls.

According to event organizers, last year’s Peter Cottontail Express sold out early, and they expect the same to happen this year. 

“Volunteers for St. Marys Little Theatre create engaging scenarios that get the passengers involved before, after, and during the train ride,” said Barbara Ryan, entertainment director for St. Marys Express. “We have many returning guests because they know that each excursion is an entirely new and different experience.”

Train passengers can enjoy the St. Marys Railroad Museum featuring running model trains before or after each ride The Peter Cottontail Express departs from Theatre by the Trax at 1000 Osborne St. in St. Marys. Tickets are $20 for adults and $14 for children 12 and under. Children 2 and under ride free on laps.  Tickets can be purchased at www.stmarysrailroad.com or by calling (912) 200-5235. Also, St. Marys Express’s popular AT THE THROTTLE experience is also offered on all train dates. AT THE THROTTLE gives someone (must be 16 or older) an opportunity to actually run the diesel locomotive. The cost is $150 and reservations for AT THE THROTTLE must be made ahead of time by calling (912) 729-1103.
