Pink Ribbon Jax prepares for soiree Oct. 21

Pink Ribbon Jax has its sights set on raising awareness for breast cancer by promoting screenings and raising money to provide free mammograms throughout the year, but October is probably the busiest with it also serving as breast cancer awareness month.

The all-volunteer nonprofit organization’s biggest fundraiser is the Pink Ribbon Soiree and the 2023 event is scheduled for Oct. 21 beginning at 7 p.m.

As has been the case in the past, the event’s presenting sponsor is Fields Auto Group and it will be held at Jaguar Land Rover Jacksonville located at 11217 Atlantic Blvd.

Proceeds from ticket sales of the event go toward supporting Pink Ribbon Jax’s ongoing mission to help eliminate breast cancer by offering free mammograms to those living locally that cannot otherwise afford it.

The organization’s free mammogram program is made possible through a partnership with Baptist Health and the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.

Tickets for the event are $250 and cocktail attire is recommended to be worn by all those attending. Go to pinkribonjax.org and search the events tab to buy tickets for the soiree.

The fun elegant evening will include a toast to “warriors in pink,” which are all those who have battled and are currently battling breast cancer in attendance.

Both silent and live auctions will be held on the night, as well as drawings that will serve as other means of raising funds for the cause.

Pink Ribbon Jax’s 2023 goal is to raise enough money to fund 1,500 mammograms for uninsured women and men. Each mammogram costs about $300.

Although the fundraiser is the organization’s largest of the year, they have shown an ability to bring the community together to support the cause.

The is none more evident than Pink Ribbon Jax’s “light Jax pink,” in which they worked with the City of Jacksonville and private corporations to shine pink lights on their buildings and bridges during the week of Oct. 1-8.

Some of the participants in this year’s “light Jax pink campaign, were Maxwell House, Dailey’s Place, the San Marco Lions Fountain, the Acosta Bridge and Atlantic Beach city hall.
