Planet Swim Aquatics competes at Futures Championships

Planet Swim Aquatics traveled to Cary, North Carolina, on July 27-30 for the USA Swimming Futures Championships. Twenty-three swimmers competed on the national level for Planet Swim. Led by PSA owner and head coach Gus Calado, team highlights from the meet include:

  • 400-meter free relay team of Olivia Moore, Brooke Arnold, Penny Zarczynski and Anna Moore clocked in a time of 3:54.35, taking sixth place and qualifying for the Summer Junior National Championships;
  • 800-meter free relay team of Brooke Arnold, Anna Moore, Mary Agnes Smith and Olivia Moore swam 8:32.10, placing sixth;
  • Nease senior Matt Koziel blazed to a 23.97 in the 50 free, qualifying for the Summer and Winter Junior National Championships;
  • Creekside Junior Hayden Sunman crushed the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:06.55, qualifying for the Summer and Winter Junior National Championships;
  • Fleming High School Junior Maryn McDade’s lightening fast swim of 26.84 qualified for the Winter Junior National Championships;
  • Ponte Vedra High School sophomore Penny Zarczynski clocked an impressive 1:02.69 in the 100 fly, qualifying for the Winter Junior National Championships.

Planet Swim Aquatics has established itself as one of the premier swim programs in the state of Florida. Located at 300 Davis Road in Nocatee, its Olympic size pool is the first for St. Johns County.
