PLAYERS Community Senior Center announces November programs

The following programs will be held at COA’s THE PLAYERS Community Senior Center, 175 Landrum Lane, Ponte Vedra Beach, beginning in November. Most classes are five weeks long and begin the first week of November. The center will be closed for Thanksgiving on both Nov. 24 and 25 and will also be closed on Nov. 11 in observance of Veteran’s Day.

Lunch — Tuesdays: Five weeks starting noon to 1 p.m. Nov. 1. Registration required a week in advance and fee required: $5 per meal.

Lunch — Thursdays: Three weeks starting noon to 1 p.m. Nov. 3. Registration required a week in advance and fee required: $5 per meal.

Duplicate Bridge: Two weeks; noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 4 and 18. Fee required: $2 per person, per Friday.

Herbology: This course is designed to show how herbs can be used to promote health and well-being by looking at specific health concerns and herbal solutions. Five weeks, 3-4 p.m. starting Nov. 1. Registration and fee required: $30 per month.

Line Dancing Class: Instructor Will Oglesby teaches participants many different line dances with a good selection of music, while having fun. Open to all adults and experience levels. Five weeks, 4-5:30 p.m. starting Nov. 2. Registration and fee required: $30 per month.

Tap Dance Class: Instructor Ginny Wirzbicki brings much experience to this style of dance and encourages all different levels of dance to learn. Four weeks (dates to be announced), 10:30-11:30 a.m. Registration and fee required: $30 per month.

Acrylic Painting: Five weeks, 9 a.m. to noon starting Nov. 2. Fee required on the second Wednesday of each month when instructor conducts class.

Hisshin Sumi-E Painting Class: Traditional East Asian brush painting. Only one week, 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10. Meets once a month, on the second Thursday of each month. Fee required: $3 per person

Caregiver Support Group: Free program. Only one week, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 2. Open to all adult caregivers and meets once a month, on the first Wednesday of each month. Register with Alzheimer’s Association at 800-272-3900.

Tai Chi: Three weeks, 10-11 a.m. starting Nov. 3.

Chair Exercise — Tuesdays: Five weeks, 9:30-10 a.m. starting Nov. 1.

Chair Exercise — Thursdays: Three weeks, 9:30-10 a.m. starting Nov. 3.

Canasta — Tuesdays: Five weeks, 10 a.m. to noon starting Nov. 1.

Mexican Train Dominoes: Five weeks, 10-11:30 a.m. starting Nov. 1.

Ask a Nurse: Five weeks, 10:30-11:30 a.m. starting Nov. 1.

Bingo — Tuesdays: Five weeks, 1-2 p.m. starting Nov. 1.

Bingo — Thursdays: Three weeks, 1-2 p.m. starting Nov. 3.

Social Bridge: Five weeks, 9:30 a.m. to noon starting Nov. 2.

Board Game Playing: Five weeks, 10 a.m. to noon starting Nov. 2.

Wii Bowling: Three weeks, 10-11 a.m. starting Nov. 3.

Tech Help: Three weeks, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting Nov. 3. Reservation required.

Bocce Ball: Two weeks, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Nov. 4 and 18.

Dominoes Fun: Two weeks, 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 4 and 18.

Trivial Pursuit: Two weeks, 10:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 4 and 18.

COA Travel Club Meeting: Join to learn about upcoming trips and excursions! 11 a.m. Nov. 1

Make a craft w/Suzanne: Make a quick and easy rustic reindeer. Materials provided. 11 a.m. Nov. 1.

November Birthday Sing-Along sponsored by Home Instead: Celebrate all November birthdays with cake and karaoke at 11 a.m. Nov. 3.

How to Navigate the World of Long-Term Care by BlueDot Cares: Educational presentation at 11 a.m. Nov. 8.

Veteran’s Day Presentation by Lynn Geiser at Hope4Veterans: Learn about this agency and honor our veterans at 11 a.m. Nov. 10.

Turkey Talk Trivia w/Windsor Pointe: Play trivia and make a festive craft with friends from Windsor Pointe. 11 a.m. Nov. 15.

Movie Time! Watch a movie with friends and enjoy fresh popcorn. Bring a brown bag lunch and stick around afterward! 9:45 a.m. Nov. 16.

“How to Handle Your Kids on Legal Issues”: St. John’s County Legal Aid’s Megan Wall, managing attorney, will provide this informative and helpful lecture at 11 a.m. Nov. 17.

Pot Luck Lunch w/Oldies Music by Leroy Fender: It’s Friendsgiving! Share a meal with friends and enjoy oldies music, games and prizes. Bring a dish to share or pay $5. 11 a.m. Nov. 22.

Concierge Care — Assistive Devices: Presentation by Concierge Care about assistive devices for seniors. 11 a.m. Nov. 29.
