PLAYERS Community Senior Center announces schedule for April

The following programs will be held at COA’s THE PLAYERS Community Senior Center, 175 Landrum Lane, Ponte Vedra Beach, beginning in April. Most classes are four weeks long and begin the first week of April. If you have any questions or wish to register, call Suzanne Duvall at 904-209-3659.

Note: The center will be closed on Friday, April 7, in observance of Good Friday.

Lunch — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting Tuesday, April 4, from noon to 1 p.m. Registration required a week in advance and fee required, $5 per meal.

Lunch — Thursdays: Four weeks starting Thursday, April 6, from noon to 1 p.m. Registration required a week in advance and fee required, $5 per meal.

Duplicate Bridge: Three weeks starting Friday, April 14, from noon to 3 p.m. Fee required — $2 per person, per Friday. No duplicate bridge on April 7.

Line Dancing Class: Instructor Will Oglesby teaches many different line dances with a good selection of music. Open to all adults and experience levels. Four weeks starting Wednesday, April 5, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Registration and fee required, $37.50 per month.

Tap Dance Class: Instructor Ginny Wirzbicki brings much experience to this style of dance and encourages all different levels of dance to learn. Three weeks starting Friday, April 14, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Registration and fee required, $18.75 the month of April. 

Hisshin Sumi-E Painting Class: Traditional East Asian brush painting. Only one week on Thursday, April 13, at 11:30 a.m. This class meets once a month. Fee required, $3 per person

Acrylic Painting: Four weeks starting Wednesday, April 5, from 9 a.m. to noon. No fee required.

Caregiver Support Group (free program): Wednesday, April 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Open to all adult caregivers; meets once a month, on the first Wednesday of each month. Register with the Alzheimer’s Association at 800-272-3900.

Chair Exercise — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting Tuesday, April 4, from 9:30 to 10 a.m.

Chair Exercise — Wednesdays: Four weeks starting Wednesday, April 5, from 9 to 9:30 a.m.

Chair Exercise — Thursdays: Four weeks starting Thursday, April 6, from 9:30 to 10 a.m.

Tai Chi: Four weeks starting Thursday, April 6, 10-11 a.m.

Canasta — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting Tuesday, April 4, from 10 a.m. to noon 

Canasta — Thursdays: Four weeks starting Thursday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to noon

Mexican Train Dominoes: Four weeks starting Tuesday, April 4, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Ask a Nurse: Four weeks starting Tuesday, April 4, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Bingo — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting Tuesday, April 4, 1-2 p.m.

Bingo — Thursdays: Four weeks starting Thursday, April 6, 1-2 p.m.

Jeopardy Style Trivia/Brain Games: Enjoy games and other activities for seniors from never2old4games.com. Four weeks starting Wednesday, April 5, from 10:30 to 11:30 p.m.

Social Bridge: Four weeks starting Wednesday, April 5, from 9 to 9:30 a.m.

Board Game Playing: Four weeks starting Wednesday, April 5, from 9 to 9:30 a.m.

Wii Bowling: Four weeks starting Thursday, April 6, 10-11 a.m.

Tech Help — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting Tuesday, April 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Shuffleboard: Three weeks starting Friday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to noon

Bocce Ball: Three weeks starting Friday, April 14, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Mama Marge: Local stand-up comedienne Mama Marge starts your April off with laughter; enjoy her hilarious free show. Tuesday, April 4, from 11 a.m. to noon

Concierge Care: Presentation on “Aging in Place” with guest speaker Jennifer James, LPN. Hosted by Concierge Care. Thursday, April 6, from 11 a.m. to noon

St. John’s County Fire Marshal: Enjoy a free lecture by the St. John's County Fire Marshal. Come learn the life-saving basics of fire prevention. Tuesday, April 11, from 11 a.m. to noon

Monthly Birthday Bash: Come enjoy birthday cake and the music of Don Minard for a celebration of April birthdays. Thursday, April 13, from 11 a.m. to noon

Windsor Pointe: Keep going and keep growing with Windsor Pointe. Join Sales Director Karen DeWeese for a free potted plant activity and chat about planting positive seeds in our minds. Tuesday, April 18, from 11 a.m. to noon

Earth Day Movie: Join the center for popcorn and the animated Apple TV movie “Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth” on Thursday, April 20, from 11 a.m. to noon

Laughter Yoga: Laughter yoga can change your mood quickly by releasing endorphins in the brain. These feel-good hormones can improve your mood and keep you laughing throughout the day. Come stretch, relax and laugh with Amanda Jones and Laughter Yoga. Tuesday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to noon
