The Ponte Vedra Auto Show has been rescheduled to Sunday, Sept. 22, at the Nocatee Event Field from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Originally planned for Sunday, Sept. 15, the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce has decided to reschedule the event because a potential tropical storm may cause adverse weather conditions.

According to Sandy Kavanaugh, Ponte Vedra Auto Show manager, all entries confirmed for Sept. 15 show participation will remain registered. Auto registrations will reopen Monday, Sept. 16. Registration will close at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18.

“It is the prudent thing to do,” said Chamber President/CEO Isabelle Renault. “We arrived at this decision in consultation with the St. Johns County Emergency Management Center and the National Weather Service. We are acutely aware of the affect a severe storm can have on a community, and while we are hoping for the best, it is our responsibility to keep our attendees, show cars and owners, staff and vendors safe,” she said. “We look forward to welcoming attendees to view the many cars showcased by our faithful car aficionados.”

The Auto Show, which is open and free to spectators, will feature up to 180 classic and new collectors’ cars all vying for the show’s 30 trophies. This year’s show features a newly designed website, which is ready for entry registration. Automobile pre-registration is $35 per vehicle through 5 p.m. Sept. 18. Day-of-show registration is $50 per vehicle. For registration information, visit www.pvautoshow.com.

New to the show this year will be a “Car Corral” sponsored by J7 Motorsports. The Car Corral has been organized for those who want to show off a car, but not have it judged or have a significant car or truck to sell. Car or truck space can be reserved for $25 on a first-come, first served basis at www.pvautoshow.com.

Four special anniversaries and one Memorial trophy will also be showcased this year. Special anniversaries include the 30th Anniversary of the Lexus, 60th Anniversary of the Mini, and 50th Anniversary of the Porsche Mid-Engine Honoring the Anniversary of the 914, and the 30th Anniversary of the Land Rover Discovery. The Ponte Vedra Auto Show had named its Best in Show award in honor of its past chairman, Larry Weisman, who passed away earlier this year.

The 2019 Ponte Vedra Auto Show is funded in part by the St. Johns County Tourist Development Council.
