Ponte Vedra (15-9) cruised to an easy 7-0 victory over an overmatched Duval Charter team Monday night on Senior Night at Sharks Park.

Playing all his seniors, veteran Sharks head coach Tom Stanton saw all five pitchers used in the contest, including four who had not appeared in a game as a pitcher all season. They allowed but one hit in the shutout victory.

Seniors Brody Maynard and Luke Isaacs each posted a pair of hits for the Sharks as many of the Ponte Vedra regulars sat out the contest.

Nine graduating Sharks were honored before the contest with all seeing valuable playing time, including a brief pinch-hit appearance by a hobbling Carter Page. One of the leading hitters in the area, coach Stanton and the Sharks are hoping that Page will be able to return to the lineup next week for the district tournament that will be hosted by the Sharks.

After losing to Creekside 7-4 on Tuesday, Ponte Vedra concludes their final week of the regular season with a home game Thursday against a potent Trinity Christian team.

Ponte Vedra will open defense of their district championship from the previous season by playing in the second of the two games Tuesday evening at Sharks Park. Following the first game between Clay and Ridgeview, the top seeded Sharks will face the winner of Monday’s play-in game between Menendez and Orange Park.
