Ponte Vedra boys lacrosse improves to 2-0

Ponte Vedra boys lacrosse is off and running to start the 2021 season. The Sharks defeated host Montverde Academy (Orlando) 13-6 on Tuesday night to bring their record to 2-0. The first half of Tuesday night’s matchup was close, and physical, and the Sharks led by just a goal at halftime. The second half was a different story as the Sharks made adjustments and used a pressing defense to outscore the Eagles 7-1 in route to the victory. PVHS sophomore Cory Bloss led all scorers with four goals and sophomore Maddox Johnson and junior Brendan Nace added three goals apiece. Avi Israel and Lad Harper won 17-of-20 faceoffs for the Sharks, and goalie Nolan Parlette racked up 16 saves. Ponte Vedra next faces host Matanzas at 6 p.m., Monday, March 1.
