The Ponte Vedra Girls Golf team capped off a great season with a third place finish at the FHSAA Class 2A State Golf Championship tournament.
A total of 16 top teams and 95 individuals competed in the tournament, held Nov.1-2 at the Mission Inn Las Colinas Course. Junior Sophie Membrino led the Sharks, scoring with a 73-74 for an individual third place finish. Senior Sara McKevitt shot a 82-77 for a 14th place finish. Also contributing to the Sharks’ success were Reni Jancsik 82-81 (22nd), Kayleigh Baker 92-88 (47th) and Megan Burke 95-86 (48th).
The last two years, the Sharks placed seventh and fifth at the state tournament, so it was a very successful season. Senior Captain Sara McKevitt will be missed by the team, said Coach Finlay.
