The historic Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, a AAA Five-Diamond Resort, has announced the appointment of Aleco Preovolos as director of tennis at the resort’s tennis facility, The Racquet Club.

Preovolos was previously the assistant director of tennis at the resort for the past year and, in addition to being rated as a top coach on the ATP and WTA tours, was director of tennis at the Club at Harbor Point in Mill Valley, California, before coming to Florida in 2017.

“Aleco possesses a great passion and knowledge for the game of tennis,” said Michael Gordon, vice president and general manager of Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. “He is familiar with our program, and his new role at The Racquet Club is a perfect fit. As an incredible tennis player and equally impressive coach, he brings a wealth of experience with some of the top names in tennis, even leading his players to Australian Open titles. His skill set and natural leadership will assist the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club team as they enhance their renowned tennis capabilities and experience.”

Preovolos is a skilled professional player, Hall of Fame inductee from UC Davis and four-year All American in singles and doubles. He left his professional career to coach other professionals for a 12-year period. Since then, he has attained four Grand Slam titles and mentored tennis prodigies, including Wayne Ferreira and Amanda Coetzer, and guided the doubles team of Rick Leach and Ellis Ferreira to an Australian Open doubles title and the world’s No. 1 ranking.

“I am excited about the opportunity to continue to be a part of such a prestigious resort as the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club,” said Preovolos. “After spending the last year as assistant director of tennis, I am honored to further our team’s efforts to make The Racquet Club a place where both professionals and students improve their game.”

As director of tennis, Preovolos will oversee The Racquet Club’s operations, including leading the resort’s coaching professionals, instructional programs for members and guests and intensive summer camps.

Ponte Vedra Inn & Club began with a single clay court more than 80 years ago and now with 15 Har-Tru clay courts, is the “Official Tennis Club of the ATP Tour,” the Association of Tennis Professionals. It has been heralded as one of America’s “top-tier tennis destinations.”
