The Ponte Vedra Lady Sharks (7-1) traveled to St. Johns to play Bartram High School (8-3) last Thursday, March 14, and ultimately defeated the Bears 12-9.
In a high-paced, back-and-forth district game, the Bear jumped out to a 6-5 lead at halftime. The Sharks of Ponte Vedra roared back in the second half, scoring seven goals in the final frame to take the game.
Ponte Vedra was led by Senior Ella Madson with five goals, four groundballs and four draw controls, and sophomore Trish Balser with three goals, one draw control and three groundballs. Junior netkeeper Lexie de Roziere saved 11 shots. The Bears were led by the hard-charging play of Karli Vockell.
The Lady Sharks travel to Orlando on Friday to play St. Stephen’s of Virginia.
