Kicking off their colorful show singing, “If you’re thankful and you know it clap your hands,” about 60 Christ Episcopal Church Preschool 3-year-olds dressed as Native Americans put on a Thanksgiving pageant Nov. 20 that brought smiles to the faces of parents and family friends.
The show is a tradition at the school.
The 3-year-olds created their costumes in class, and boys and girls were dressed identically, complete with beads, headdresses and face paint. The joyous students sang a medley of songs, some with chanting, hand movements and drums.
Toward the end, the school’s kindergarteners came in dressed as Pilgrims to complete the Thanksgiving story.
“Happy Thanksgiving, everybody,” Leslie Borland, kindergarten teacher, sang out after reading a poem about the Pilgrims bringing gifts to their new friends.
“It was great,” said Heather Kornick, who came with husband, Craig, to watch their daughter, Auden, in the show. Like most of the other adults in the audience, they captured the iconic performance with their cell phone cameras.
“She was excited,” Heather Kornick said of Auden, who portrayed a Native American. “This is a great school.”
