Presentation subject is ‘Lost Voices from America’s Oldest Parish’

The Diocese of St. Augustine Archives & Records Management Office will host an expert on early Florida history at the University of North Florida’s University Center Banquet Hall at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at the University Center Banquet Hall at UNF, 12000 Alumni Drive, Jacksonville.

J. Michael Francis Ph.D., Hough Family Chair of Florida Studies, University of South Florida, will discuss his newest project, “Interactive Digital Archives of the Americas.” It includes the Diocese of St. Augustine’s earliest sacramental records beginning in 1594, which have been digitized, transcribed, translated and made searchable online.

The evening will be dedicated to stories found in the earliest Catholic records in the country. This is a free event open to the public.
