The St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce is providing community members with the opportunity to connect with political candidates ahead of the 2024 election.

Meet the Candidates at PISJ (formerly Politics in St. Johns) will be held Tuesday, July 23, at Beachside High School in St. Johns and Thursday, July 31, at Solomon Calhoun Community Center in St. Augustine. The meet-and-greet events allow citizens to meet and speak with candidates running for public office.

“The chamber is proud to bring these non-partisan events to the residents and business owners of St. Johns County,” said Isabelle Renault, president and CEO of the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce. “This meet-and-greet gives the public face time with candidates to ask questions and learn information that will help them make the most informed decision in the voting booth.”

Held every two years, the Chamber’s Meet the Candidate events draw hundreds of residents from around the county to connect with candidates campaigning for all levels of government.

At the events, attendees can also show support for the candidates of their choice in a straw poll conducted by the University of North Florida Public Opinion Research Lab. Attendees are encouraged to have conversations with all candidates before voting in the straw poll.

This year’s events will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, at Beachside High School, 200 Great Barracuda Way, St. Johns, and from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at Solomon Calhoun Community Center, 1300 Duval St., St. Augustine.

“The Chamber is providing an important venue for the public to be as informed as possible,” said Berta Odom, chair of the Board of Directors of the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce. “This is a unique opportunity for residents to have these one-on-one conversations with candidates and ask questions about issues that matter to them.”

Both events are free and open to the public. For more information, residents and candidates should go to bit.ly/pisj2024.
