This year marks the 24th anniversary of the SenioRITAs’ Women’s Tennis Tournament. The three-day event will be held Friday-Sunday, Oct. 13-15, and 300 women from throughout the Jacksonville area and out of state are expected to participate. It is being hosted by Sawgrass Country Club at Sawgrass Racquet Club.

The festivities began on Tuesday, Oct. 10, with a live- and silent-auction party at The Yards, in Sawgrass Players Club. The informal dinner was catered by Carrabbas and music was provided by Tia & Bo. A “Closest to the Pin” contest was held on The Yards course.

The tournament is the largest charity tennis event in Northeast Florida. Money raised provides funding for research, education, equipment and patient programs.

SenioRITAs is an all-volunteer organization with 100% of the profits going to its beneficiaries.

In 2022, the group raised $210,000 to fight breast cancer with donations to Mayo Clinic for research; to Baptist Medical Center for patient programs; to The Buddy Bus, a mobile mammogram unit for local patient outreach; and the DigniCap at MD Anderson, to help young women prevent hair loss during chemotherapy.

To date, the group has raised more than $2.5 million.
