Ponte Vedra’s boys’ soccer team left little doubt that they are the cream of their district with a pair of 8-0 mercy wins over Ridgeview and Clay this past week.

Two minutes into the game Michael Bennett put the Sharks in front against Ridgeview, his first of three scores. Five minutes later, he registered a second goal on an assist by Johnny Stephens.

Stephens scored the Sharks third goal followed by one of the foot of Nick Kostrubsky and another by Munir Adamo to put Ponte Vedra up 5-0.

All the Sharks celebrated their next goal. It came from Stuart Linn and was his first of the season.

The second half started with the Sharks on top 6-0 and ended abruptly after Bennett connected for his third at the 36-minute mark and Chris Howard’ header iced the mercy win at the 33-minute mark.

Ponte Vedra went on the road to Clay for their next contest and again found easy pickings. Bennett again led the Sharks with a pair of goals along with two by Stephens and singles goals by Jack Bingeman, Sam Nicholson, Conor Brandon and Steven Sifontes.
