The Ponte Vedra baseball team (16-10) will face the Ridgeview Panthers (12-11) Thursday night at Sharks Park in the district championship.

Attempting to defend their 2018 district championship, the Sharks earned their way into the title game with a decisive 9-0 shutout victory Tuesday night against Menendez. Tony Roca, who had earlier defeated Menendez 7-1 with a school-record 19 strikeouts, was sharp again Tuesday against the Falcons.

Roca struck out 11 batters and allowed but one hit as the Sharks improved their season record to 16-10. Scott Griesemer was a perfect 3 for 3 for the winners, while Brody Maynard had a double, two walks, a sacrifice fly and three RBIs to help lead the Sharks’ attack.

Ridgeview earned their way into the district final with a dramatic 4-2 victory over Clay in a game that went 11 innings.
