The Ponte Vedra Sharks got their first district win of the season and did so in dominant fashion with a 27-7 road victory against First Coast on Friday night.

Mickey Stephens scored a pair of rushing touchdowns to help lead the way on the night, as the Sharks evened their record at 2-2 overall and 1-1 in district 3-7A.

The Sharks jumped out to an early 20-7 thanks to a Stephens touchdown run, as well as a receiving touchdown by Ryan Smith.

Davis Ashcroft was on target with his leg and kicked a pair of field goals on the night.

The second of Stephens’ scores came in the second half and was the only points for either team in the final two quarters.

It was another impressive performance by the Sharks’ defense, which continues to showcase itself on a weekly basis.

Next up for the Sharks is another road test, but this time it will come against county foe and non-district opponent Menendez at 7 p.m. Sept. 24.
