The soccer programs at Ponte Vedra High having been nearly unstoppable to this point in the soccer season with the boys and girls teams having combined for a record of 14-1-2.
Since a 4-0 loss to Creekside of Nov. 12, the second game of the season, the boys squad has been on fire with six straight victories.
The Sharks have looked the part especially against fellow St. Johns County opponents, including edging out the Bartram Trail High 3-2 to end the Bears’ undefeated season on Dec. 9.
The offense has been something the Sharks have been able to rely on all season as they have scored at least three goals in all but two of their victories.
The attacking mindset that Thomas Arndt and Nick Churchill have played with all season has paid dividends as they both lead the team with three goals apiece and are averaging three shots on goal a game as well.
Meanwhile, the girls team tied Bartram Trail 0-0 on Dec. 13, fueled by a stellar effort from Abby Kennedy in goal.
The sophomore goalkeeper faced eight shots on the night as the Bears outshot the Sharks 8-4, but she was up to the task and stopped all eight shots en route to the fourth game this season she has held the opponent scoreless.
The Sharks have had eight different players score a goal this season which shows the amount of depth they have on the offensive side of the ball, which is something to continue to watch as the season continues because it will only make them even more difficult to defend as the season progresses.
