Southern Grounds surprises the airport connoisseur with an appetite for the extraordinary

Northeast Florida is blazing culinary footprints that unveil great dining experiences in venues that surprise and delight anyone who loves great food.

You do not always find true culinary innovation in a neighborhood restaurant or clustered in a town center of popular eateries.

Less traditional venues are gaining momentum…like the newly opened Southern Grounds at Jacksonville International Airport.

Located in the main terminal in pre-security, this modern chef-driven coffee house offers a colorful expanded menu for early morning breakfast, lunch and dinner (5:00am – 9:00pm), plus a full bar featuring craft cocktails and beautiful sweets from Jacksonville-based Blueberry Artisan Bakery.

Owner of Southern Grounds and Blueberry Artisan Bakery, Mark Janasik recognizes the need for a “…sense of place, a great cup of coffee and a relaxing customer-centric atmosphere. We aim to connect our community and passengers with a unique and memorable experience along their journey,” Janasik said.

He has certainly, for the first time, also introduced expertly crafted cocktails like espresso martinis or a Sparkling Guava Margarita made with Don Julio Blanco Tequila along with a popular collection of fine wines.

Nestled inside an impeccably tidy and sparkling eatery, Southern Grounds pours unforgettable fresh-roasted Intelligentsia Coffee that promises delivering the world’s best coffee and espresso-based beverages, always innovating with an enriching coffee experience.

True to the mission of Southern Grounds, the menu focuses on locally sourced ingredients, sustainable and delicious dishes that respect and suit so many dietary choices including gluten-free, vegetarian and health-forward specialties.

A tempting gluten-free vegan chocolate cake could entice even an exhausted traveler whose stopover in Jacksonville would be so much more delicious than expected.

Piled-high burgers, healthy salads, picture-perfect tacos and luscious avocado toast would cheer most midday blahs! If “baking is love,” imagine a beautiful croissant from a pastry chef whose repertoire includes Paris-inspired cheesecakes, seasonal fruit tarts and morning buns that are all handmade into tasteful treasures that don’t compromise quality or taste. Our weary travelers deserve dessert made with intention.
