Jimmy Buffett’s music and casual vibe make him the epitome of island escapism. Florida Water Tours is celebrating Jimmy Buffett Day, which is recognized by the State of Florida on Aug. 30, with a themed cruise that promises to put passengers in an island state of mind. Departing from Camachee Cove Yacht Harbor Marina, Florida Water Tour’s Jimmy Buffett Sunset Cruise will be a Parrothead’s dream, full of fun, food and music.

“Who hasn’t dreamed of throwing off the bowlines to their own boat and leaving all of their cares behind?” said Jessica Jadick, founder and owner of Florida Water Tours. “While we can’t quite do that, we’ll be able to embrace Jimmy Buffett’s joie de vivre for a couple of hours at sea. We want our passengers to go all in — wear their best island wear — maybe even find a grass skirt and coconut bra! We’ll set the mood by playing all the great Buffett tunes while guests can enjoy a beautiful sunset. Buffett was a dedicated environmental conservationist, which we love. So while we’re having fun, passengers can still learn all about the area and wildlife from our amazing crew.”

Jimmy Buffett Day celebrates Buffett’s significant contributions to the state’s culture and his free-spirited lifestyle. Born on Christmas Day in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Buffett became an icon for the laid-back, beach and sailing lifestyle that prevailed in the Florida Keys. He was introduced to sailing by his father and grandfather, starting a lifelong love of the water and inspiring his ethos of following passions and living life to the fullest.

His popular hits include “Margaritaville,” “Come Monday,” “Cheeseburger in Paradise” and many more. He released 30 albums, with eight certified gold and nine certified platinum or multi-platinum. In total, he sold more than 20 million certified records worldwide, making him one of the world’s best-selling musical artists. Buffett died after a prolonged battle with a rare form of skin cancer on Sept. 1, 2023.

The Jimmy Buffett Sunset Cruise is a two-hour excursion and departs at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, returning to the dock at 8:30 p.m. The cruise is on Florida Water Tour’s spacious flagship vessel, The Osprey, docked at Camachee Cove Yacht Harbor Marina, just north of downtown St. Augustine, with plentiful, free parking.

The Jimmy Buffett Sunset Cruise is $45 per person and is for adults 21 years of age and older. Drink specials, alcoholic beverages, water and soft drinks are available to purchase. Seats are limited. Guests can check availability at floridawatertour.com/jimmy-buffett-sunset-cruise.
