The St. Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum and the St. Augustine Swashbucklers are giving a “heave ho” of support for the 11th annual Pink Up the Pace race runners.

On Saturday, Oct. 5, piratical characters will be in attendance at the Pirate Museum courtyard, manning the scuttlebutt (water station) while cheering on the runners as they pass by at approximately 8 a.m.  In addition, all runners who visit the Museum with running bibs will receive free admission.

Noted as the largest 5K race in St. Augustine, Pink Up the Pace serves both women and men in an effort to raise money which helps fund imaging services for detecting breast cancer. The organization aims to have a positive impact on the lives of those affected by this disease. All race proceeds go to assist underinsured and uninsured individuals navigate the financial challenges of early breast cancer detection and to educate the public.

The St. Augustine Swashbucklers formed in 2001 by noted Pirate Historian, Joe Osteen. The Crew of 90-plus members is a group whose purpose is charitable work, community involvement and pirate entertainment across the city. During the race, they will be at the Pirate Museum Courtyard, located at 12 S. Castillo Drive.
