St. Johns County will auction its surplus goods to the public on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 2416 Dobbs Road, St. Augustine. Early preview will take place on Friday, Aug. 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The auction day preview will begin at 8 a.m. and the auction will officially begin at 10 a.m. To view a list of items up for auction, go to geauction.com/event/sjc-surplus-auction.

A county surplus auction is held once or twice a year to sell items approved by the Board of County Commissioners to the highest bidder. The county currently has a contract with Great Expectations Auction, Estate Services, and Realty to perform these auctions. The revenue generated from the auction goes back into the county’s general fund.

“The auction is comprised of vehicles and items that have been identified and approved as surplus by the Board of County Commissioners,” Purchasing and Contracts Assistant Director Jaime Locklear said. “This provides an opportunity for anyone from the public to bid on and potentially purchase these items at an affordable price. The funds generated by the auction will be deposited back into the county budget.”
