Starling at Nocatee residents get taste of Las Vegas, celebrate Cinco de Mayo

Posted

Things have been very busy at Starling at Nocatee Independent Living.

They had a fantastic evening bringing Vegas to Starling at the end of April. Their residents played craps, roulette and blackjack, and tried their luck on the slot machines. Starling  had some fantastic prizes sponsored by local businesses, so our residents turned their winnings into raffle prizes.

They have also had several visits from the Sheriff’s Office in the last few weeks. The visitors have educated Starling  residents on fraud prevention and introduced them to one of their K9s, and the Sheriff himself came to talk to about St. John’s County. They are looking forward to their next visit at their Coffee with a Cop event at the end of the month.

Starling  a had a great Cinco de Mayo celebration last week, as well, with live Flamenco guitar music and margaritas for all. Some residents dressed in their authentic apparel from Mexico, including a beautiful sombrero. Residents and staff alike enjoyed an afternoon filled with laughs, pictures and memories.
