Student choir sings carols at Newcomers Alumnae luncheon

Cornerstone Classical Academy's choir helped Newcomers Alumnae celebrate an early Christmas when the social group held its holiday luncheon Dec. 1 at Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Before lunch, the second-grade, 18-member choir from the academy sang traditional Christmas carols.

Newcomers Alumnae members enjoyed a luncheon of lasagna, caesar salad and a holiday dessert, topped off with a prosecco toast to ring in the holidays. Many prizes and gift certificates were given out.

Cornerstone Classical Academy opened in August 2020 and is a tuition-free classical school for students in kindergarten through grade seven. It expects to increase to grade 12 in the next five years.

The school has attained an “A” rating and school officials envision growing to become a wellspring of future leaders for the Jacksonville area, the nation and the world.

Every student of the academy will have a solid foundation of knowledge, discipline, virtue and character, which flow forth from their understanding of the Western tradition that supports our civil society and its history.

For further information on the academy, located at 2360 St. Johns Bluff Road South, Jacksonville, email info@cornerstoneclassical.org.

Newcomers Alumnae’s next monthly luncheon will take place at 11 a.m. Jan. 5 at Marsh Landing Country Club, 25655 Marsh Landing Parkway. The cost for this luncheon is $23 and reservations must be made by contacting bartshar@comcast.net as soon as possible to reserve a seat.

The January luncheon will feature something different. Instead of a speaker or entertainment, the program will consist of a round-table discussion titled "A Strategic Planning Session To Look at Various Options For Our Club In The Future."
