Several area students have been recognized for academic success at their respective colleges and universities.
Area residents graduate from Mercer University
Mercer University conferred degrees to more than 2,200 students at five commencements held in May. Area graduates are:
- Glenn Mandel of Ponte Vedra, Bachelor of Science from the College of Health Professions
- Nicholas Pirris of Ponte Vedra, bachelor’s degree in business administration from the School of Business
- Kathryn Vanderlinde of Jacksonville Beach, Master of Science from the School of Engineering
University of Mississippi celebrates May 2024 graduates
More than 3,100 students graduated from the University of Mississippi in May 2024. Local graduates include:
- William Hynes of Ponte Vedra Beach, B.A. in sport and recreation administration from the School of Applied Sciences
- Alexandra Schupler of Ponte Vedra Beach, bachelor’s degree in business administration from the School of Business Administration
- Faith Gardner of St. Augustine, Bachelor of Arts from the College of Liberal Arts. Major: allied health studies
- Ely Leibowitz of St. Augustine, bachelor’s degree in business administration from the School of Business Administration
- Averie Siegel of St. Augustine, Bachelor of Science from the School of Journalism and New Media. Major: integrated marketing communications
Graduations
- Andrea Vega of Ponte Vedra graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in the individualized program.
- Allycia Harper of Jacksonville received the Bachelor of Science from Mississippi State University’s College of Arts and Sciences.
- Mason Ebert of Ponte Vedra Beach has earned the Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre arts from Valdosta State University.
- Ryan Thompson of Ponte Vedra Beach graduated summa cum laude from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in psychology from the College of Arts and Sciences.
- Marissa McGuire of Ponte Vedra graduated from the University at Albany, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in atmospheric science.
- Ryan Alexander of Ponte Vedra received a Bachelor of Science degree in health science studies from Quinnipiac University during a commencement ceremony held in May.
- Gabriella Kurrus of St. Augustine graduated from Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in management.
Dean’s List
- Western Carolina University named the following students to its spring 2024 dean’s list: Kayleigh Baker and Malia Roberts, both of St Augustine.
- Rochester Institute of Technology named the following students to its spring 2024 dean’s list: Arthur Trapp of Ponte Vedra Beach (cybersecurity program), Andrea Vega of Ponte Vedra (individualized program), Kilian Jakstis of St. Augustine (computational mathematics program) and Emma Hancock of St. Augustine Beach (design and imaging technology program).
- Allycia Harper of Jacksonville was named to the Mississippi State University spring 2024 dean’s list.
- Andrew Hoffman of Ponte Vedra was named to the dean's list at Bates College for the winter semester ending in April 2024. Hoffman is majoring in chemistry.
- Tyler Cooper of Ponte Vedra was named for the spring 2024 dean's list at St. Olaf College. Major: Economics. Parents: Phil and Beverly Cooper
- Julia Peiris, class of 2026, of Ponte Vedra, was named to the dean's list at Tufts University for the spring 2024 semester.
- Rachel Johnson of Ponte Vedra Beach was named to the College of the Holy Cross spring 2024 dean's list.
University of Tampa honors dean's list students
The University of Tampa has honored 2,221 students who were named to the dean's list for the spring 2024 semester. Local honorees included:
- Lyle Kamback of St. Augustine, a junior majoring in allied health, Bachelor of Science.
- Samantha Schlegel of St. Augustine, a senior majoring in marine science-biology, Bachelor of Science.
