Teen Gaming Club returns to Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library

On March 6, the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library hosted the first Teen Gaming Club event since the library’s reopening from major repairs.

Several of the community’s teens, known as VolunTeens, returned with smiles and helpful attitudes to help set up the gaming program. The Teen Gaming Club has been active since January 2010, and the VolunTeens have run it from start to finish. They set up the equipment, games and snacks; take it all down at the end; and make any new teens who come feel welcome and comfortable during their monthly events. On March 6, the VolunTeens fully set up the games, equipment and snacks, and labeled the lockable cabinet in the room for future Teen Gaming events.

According to the library, gaming brings local teens together. They have expressed to staff that the library is a place they feel safe to be themselves, no matter their back story. The library stated that its mission is to bring people together, make them feel welcome and show them that the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library is so much more than just books.
