The Jacksonville Symphony Chorus will be holding auditions for the second half of the 2018-2019 season on Saturday, Feb. 2 in the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts. Auditions are by appointment from 9 a.m. to 12p.m., but walk-in auditions will be available beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Auditions will consist of a 90-second sight-reading activity, establishment of range and singing an excerpt of “How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place” (measures 85-123) from Ein deutsches Requiem by Johannes Brahms.

The Jacksonville Symphony Chorus rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 10 p.m. until May. For the remainder off the season, the Chorus will join the Symphony for:

Verdi’s Requiem: March 15 and 16

Carmina Burana: May 11

Performance week will consist of a piano rehearsal and one or two orchestra dress rehearsals. Performance week rehearsals will be located at the Times-Union Center.  Members are expected to commit to an entire season, attend all rehearsals (conflicts can be addressed) and are required to learn notes outside of rehearsals.

Financial Obligations:

Choral scores will be available at the first rehearsal to borrow or purchase. The average cost to purchase a score is approximately $25.
