THE PLAYERS’ Red Coats surprise Police Athletic League of Jacksonville with $10,000 donation

Participants from each of the Police Athletic League of Jacksonville branches (Eastside, Westside, Monument, Northside and Palm Avenue) were looking forward to learning which of them would be declared the champion of the gingerbread decorating contest, hosted by THE PLAYERS Red Coats.

Earlier this month, JaxPAL received gingerbread kits for each of its five locations. Youth from each branch collectively worked together on their house, to be judged by the Red Coats. All five houses were brought to the Monument Road PAL location to be judged by the Red Coats.

While JaxPAL was expecting a ribbon and recognition for their artistic efforts, they were instead surprised with a $100 award for each branch and a $10,000 donation to their organization. These funds will be used to help JaxPAL offset the financial and operational challenges they have faced due to COVID-19. The Eastside location recently opened, following a fire that severely damaged their location at the onset of the pandemic.

Each year, the Red Coats conduct “ride-outs,” visiting nonprofit organizations throughout Northeast Florida to present charitable donations. Throughout the holiday season, the group has conducted surprise donations to K9s For Warriors, Rethreaded and Moore-Myers Children’s Fund.

The Police Athletic League of Jacksonville enriches the lives of children by creating positive relationships between law enforcement officers and the youth of our community through educational, athletic and leadership programs.
