Timucuan Parks Cleanup Program underway

Posted

Timucuan Parks Foundation wants to remind students that they have an opportunity now to earn community service hours by participating in the nonprofit’s self-guided volunteer cleanup program. From now through the end of March, students can earn two hours or more of community service by picking up litter at Jacksonville’s wilderness parks and preserves and they will have a chance to win a Mayday Ice Cream gift card in the foundation’s weekly drawing.

Students can go to timucuanparks.org/parks to choose one of the many parks around Jacksonville to clean up. The foundation encourages students to ask friends and family to join them. Students should dress appropriately in closed-toe shoes, and bring trash bags, protective gloves and a camera to document the work. Students should also bring insect repellent, sunscreen, water and a snack.

Participants must spend at least 1.5 hours picking up litter around the park to earn the community service hours and must document the work with photos that can include shots of the student’s choice but must also include a final picture of the filled trash bags. Pictures can be sent to volunteer@timucuanparks.org and can be shared via social media using the hashtag #tpfcleanup and tag the foundation @timucuanparks.

Students are also required to fill out the parks cleanup form which can be found at timucuanparks.org/self-guided.
