Tournament to benefit Betty Griffin Center

The Betty Griffin Center has announced its first pro-am golf tournament to raise money for the organization. The Women's Care Peace at Home Pro-Am Golf Tournament is set for Oct. 23-24 at The Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach.

"We are honored that Women's Care has partnered with us as our title sponsor," said Betty Griffin Center CEO Kelly Franklin. "Just like Women's Care, our organization's mission and values are aligned with caring for the health and well-being of women."

Women's Care CEO Alistair Madle agreed, noting that his organization understands the urgent need for the comprehensive services that the Betty Griffin Center provides to hundreds of adults and children each year.

"Our specialty women's health physician group has more than 100 outpatient locations throughout Florida, and we're aware that one in four women have, are, or will experience domestic violence in their lifetime," Madle said. "We're excited to take part in this event to provide more funding for the nonprofit agency to help victims of domestic and sexual violence."

Betty Griffin Center Board members Dr. Tim Baird and Jayne Evans are co-chairs for the event.

"Our goal for the tournament is to establish a first-tier pro-am that will help fund the critical ongoing work of the Betty Griffin Center," Baird said.

Evans added that with the continued growth of St. Johns County, the need is increasing for emergency safe shelter and comprehensive services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

“In addition to Women's Care as our title sponsor, we are grateful to Brittany and Billy Horschel are the tournament’s Healing and Hope sponsor,” Baird said. "We are also excited that Billy Horschel, ranked number 30 in the world, is working to accommodate our tournament in his schedule and lead our tournament day clinic.”

Other sponsors include Douglas Elliman Real Estate of Ponte Vedra Beach, Pearmid Property LLC and Preddy Law Firm. Currently, eight high-level sponsorships remain, ranging from $1,200 to $10,000, and other sponsorships, including hole sponsorships, which offer participation for a wide range of companies and individuals.
