The first named storm of the 2023 season formed Friday in the Gulf of Mexico. According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Arlene was located at 26.7 north 86.2 west at 1 p.m. and was moving south at 5 mph. It is expected to be downgraded to a tropical depression later in the day and will continue to lose strength as it approaches western Cuba.
